Workspaces, roles and client access

Invite your team, choose what each person can do, and give clients access to their own site only. One plan per workspace, with unlimited teammates.

Sites in Firetend belong to a workspace: your business, or your agency. Everyone in a workspace shares its sites, its plan and its actions.

Your workspace

You get a workspace of your own when you sign up. If someone invites you to theirs, you join it and keep your own too. Switch between them from the workspace name at the top of the sidebar; each one shows your role there.

Owners can rename the workspace on the Team page, under Workspace in the sidebar.

Invite your team

Only owners can invite people. On the Team page, under Invite people:

  1. Enter the person's Email and choose a Role.
  2. Choose Send invitation.

They get an email with a link. They sign in, or create an account, with the address you invited, then choose Join workspace. Invitations expire after 7 days. Until then they're listed under Pending, where you can Copy link to send it another way, or Cancel it.

Owners and developers can also switch an entry's form from Fields to Source, to edit its Markdown directly. Editors and clients edit through the page and its fields.

Owners change anyone's role from the members list on the Team page, or remove them with the bin icon. The person who created a workspace always stays its owner, and a workspace always keeps at least one owner. Anyone else can choose Leave.

Client access for agencies

The Client role lets your clients work on their own site without seeing the rest of your work. Owners, developers and editors see every site in the workspace; a client sees only the sites you give them.

  1. Invite the client on the Team page with the Client role.
  2. Open their site and go to Settings → Client access.
  3. Tick the client's name. Untick it to take access away.

A client can edit text and images and ask the content agent for changes. Their edits wait in the draft, with the note An editor or owner publishes your changes, until someone on your team reviews and publishes them.

Clients see the site's form messages too. If you handle their enquiries for them, turn off Clients see the Inbox under Settings → Forms: see Forms and your Inbox.

Plans are per workspace

Billing belongs to the workspace, not to each person. The owner chooses the plan on Plan and billing, and every member works within its sites and actions. You never pay per person, so add as many teammates and clients as you need.

Work the content agent does for a client uses the workspace's actions, like anyone else's. The Agency plan is made for running sites for clients, with ten sites and client logins.

If you work on sites for several businesses that each pay for their own plan, have each business own its workspace and invite you, rather than putting their sites in yours.
