Create your website

How Firetend researches your business, shows you a design brief and a first look, then builds and publishes the whole site.

Firetend builds your website for you. You answer a few questions, check what the AI found, and approve before anything is built. Expect about five minutes for the first look and 15 to 40 minutes for the full site.

1. Start a new site

Go to Sites → New site and answer:

  • What are you building? A business website, or a blog for an existing site (articles that sit next to a website you already have).
  • Do you have a website? If you do, give its address and confirm it's yours (or your client's, with their permission). Firetend reads it for your services, locations, team and wording, so you don't have to type them again. If you don't, describe what you do, for whom and where.
  • How should it look?
    • Keep my look, make it much better: your colours, logo and feel, rebuilt properly.
    • Like these sites: up to three sites you like, and up to five screenshots. They're used for design ideas only; nothing is copied.
    • Surprise me: the designer chooses, guided by your business.
  • Name and address: the site's name and its free address, your-name.firetend.app. You can connect your own domain later.

2. Check the design brief and the first look

In about five minutes you get an email, and the site's Design page shows:

  • The design brief: what the designer learned about your business, the pages it plans, the design direction and the voice. It also lists facts to confirm: anything it found unclear or contradictory, such as two different phone numbers.
  • A first look at your home page: the style, the header and the opening section.

Answer the facts to confirm and say what you'd change ("warmer colours", "less text at the top"), then choose Build with these changes. If it's right as it is, choose Approve and build.

3. Review the finished site

When the build is done (15 to 40 minutes, and you get an email), the Design page shows a preview of every page and a summary from the designer. If something should change, write it under Feedback, optionally naming a page (/about/), and send it. Each round takes a few minutes. Your first three feedback rounds come with the new site.

4. Publish

When you're happy, choose Publish site. It goes live at its address straight away. From then on you edit it in the Editor, ask the content agent for new pages and articles, and request design changes on the Design page.

Good to know

  • The research, the brief and the first look are free. Building the full site needs a plan.
  • Nothing about your business is invented: facts come from your website, your answers or the brief's questions. If the AI couldn't confirm something, it asks.
  • Your content is stored as Markdown files in a git repository that belongs to your workspace, so it stays yours.
