Refresh a page

Have the content agent compare a page with the pages that rank today, close the gaps, and make it easier for AI assistants to quote.

A refresh improves a page you already have, so it ranks higher and gets quoted by assistants like ChatGPT. It keeps the same page and address, and keeps what already works. Like an article, it takes two steps: the agent's brief, then the rewrite. Together they use 10 actions.

Refresh works for articles, guides and general pages. For service and location pages, see Service and location pages.

1. Ask for it

There are two ways:

  • In the Editor, open the page, choose Agent and ask: "Refresh this page so it ranks and gets quoted by AI assistants". It's one of the panel's suggestions.
  • Under Content, open the ⋯ menu next to a page and choose Refresh for search. The editor opens on that page with the request ready to send.

If you have a search phrase in mind, add it: "Refresh this page for 'piano lessons for adults'". Otherwise the agent picks one from the page's title and topic, using real search data for your country.

2. Read the brief

The agent reads the page and notes what's there now: the title and description lengths, the headings, the FAQ, anything that will go out of date, and any claim your brand profile doesn't support.

It then checks the page suits the search. If the results for that phrase are a different kind of page (service pages when yours is an article, for example), it says so and suggests a better phrase or page.

Next it reads at least three of the pages that rank today and replies with a brief:

  • The opportunity: the search phrase, how many people search for it, how hard it is to rank for, and why the page is held back.
  • The pages it compared, with a line on what each does well.
  • A title and meta description, or "keep".
  • The outline: new or changed sections, and why. Sections to trim.
  • One addition none of those pages has, built from your own facts.
  • FAQ questions and internal links to add.
  • Facts it needs from you.

Nothing is written yet.

3. Say go, or adjust

Choose Go ahead, or choose Adjust and tell it what to change. The agent then edits the page in place:

  • It opens the page, and each section, with a direct answer that could be quoted on its own.
  • It moves or updates anything dated, so the rest stays true.
  • It links to the sources it read and to your related pages.
  • It updates the FAQ with the agreed questions.

It checks the page for search and AI-readiness, test-builds the site and saves the result to your draft. Facts about your business come only from your brand profile, your pages or you; other sites' pages show what to cover, never wording to copy.

4. Review and publish

The preview updates when the agent finishes, and the panel lists the files it changed. Read the page, click any text to edit it, and choose Publish when you're happy. Changes & deploys lets you go back if you need to.

The agent's reply also says how to judge the result: where the page ranks for the phrase in a few weeks, and whether AI assistants quote it when asked the page's main question.

Tips

  • Answer the agent's questions about your business. It leaves out what it can't confirm.
  • To go straight from brief to rewrite, say so when you ask: "Refresh this page, no need to check with me first."
